When a family opens registration for a program that has reached capacity — and the waitlist still has room — the registration flow switches into waitlist mode automatically. They see a “currently full” notice. An amber banner reads “This program is currently full” and explains they’re joining the waitlist and won’t be charged until a spot opens and they’re moved in. The registration steps (choosing the athlete, signing waivers, and so on) work exactly as normal. The button becomes Join Waitlist. On the review step the call-to-action reads “Review & Join Waitlist” instead of the usual register button. Confirming adds the athlete to the program’s waitlist in join order. Paid programs require a card first. For programs that cost money, the family must have a saved payment method before they can join — the Join Waitlist button stays disabled until a card is on file, with a note that “A payment method is required to hold your spot. You won’t be charged until a spot becomes available.” This is what lets Uplifter charge them the moment a spot opens. They land on a confirmation. After joining, the flow shows a “You’re on the waitlist!” screen telling them you’ll email as soon as a spot opens, plus (for paid programs) a reminder that their card on file is charged automatically when the athlete is moved in. If the waitlist has hit its maximum size, the family isn’t offered the option at all — the program simply shows as full.
