Must know
  • Plan feature. The Navigation screen needs the Website Customization plan feature, which is off by default. Without it, your site uses the automatic menu.
  • Save to apply. Nothing reaches your site until you click Save Navigation. Reset to Default brings back the automatic menu right away, removing your custom tabs, groups and renames.
  • Limits. Up to 18 top-level tabs, labels up to 40 characters, and up to 10 links in a group.
  • Hidden pages stay listed. Hiding a page on the Pages screen hides its tab too, though the tab stays in this list.
Before you customize. Your site builds its menu from the pages turned on in Settings > Website > Pages: Home, Programs, the shop tabs, Calendar, Competitions, Events, Facilities, Our Team and Contact, then your visible custom pages in title order (only the first few join automatically; add others on the Navigation screen). Store, Passes, Memberships and Gift Cards share one Shop dropdown when two or more have something for sale. Where to find it. Go to Settings > Website > Navigation. It isn’t listed if your plan lacks Website Customization. The Tabs list starts as your automatic menu, so nothing changes until you edit.
1

Reorder tabs

Drag a tab by its handle. Links inside a group move within that group.
2

Rename a tab

Type a new name in the tab’s label field (up to 40 characters). Leave a page’s label blank to use its own name.
3

Add a page

Click Add Page and choose from Pages not in the navigation. A hidden custom page shows “(hidden)” there and a Hidden badge once added, so you can place it now and turn it on later.
4

Group tabs

Click Add Group to add a dropdown named “More”. Rename it, then fill it with its Add page and Add link buttons (up to 10 links).
5

Add an external link

Click Add External Link, enter a Label and a full web Address such as https://example.com, then click Add Link. The tab opens that site in a new browser tab.
6

Remove a tab

Click the trash icon on any tab or group link. The page itself is not deleted.
7

Save

Click Save Navigation. Until then the header shows “Unsaved changes”, and leaving asks “Discard unsaved navigation changes?”. You see “Navigation saved”, and any empty group is removed.
Checking the preview. Preview updates as you edit and shows how visitors see your tabs, with hidden and unavailable pages dropped out. A group with one link shows as a plain tab. Unlike your live site, it keeps Store, Passes, Memberships and Gift Cards tabs even when nothing is for sale. Starting over. Click Reset to Default and confirm with Reset. Your custom tabs, groups and renames are removed right away, and the automatic menu returns. After you customize. A custom page you turn on is not added for you: the Pages screen tags it “Not in navigation” until you add it here. Deleting a custom page removes its tab.
