Must know
  • Use the switch on the guardian’s Communication tab. Turning email off stops your campaigns and your own notification rules’ emails. Receipts, invoices and payment notices still send.
  • If the guardian unsubscribed themselves, only turn it back on when they ask you to.
  • A Delivery blocked address can’t be switched back on by your club. Only Uplifter support can clear it.
  • Permissions. Seeing the switch needs View Families; changing it needs Edit Families.

Confirm if they unsubscribed themselves

If the guardian turned email off with an unsubscribe link or in their own settings, the card says “This guardian unsubscribed themselves. Only turn it back on if they have asked you to.” Turning it on opens a confirmation titled This guardian unsubscribed themselves; click Enable anyway only if they asked. An off set by staff, an import or a bounce turns back on with no prompt.
What turning it off stops. Every email campaign (whatever its classification), emails from notification rules you created, including reminders, and holiday-closure emails. Built-in emails keep sending: receipts, invoices, payment notices and the built-in reminders. Text messages aren’t affected; SMS has its own consent. If the address is blocked. After a permanent bounce or a spam report, the card also shows Delivery blocked with the date and reason. Nothing is sent to that address, not even receipts, and the switch can’t lift the block: only Uplifter support can clear it. Ask the guardian for a working address and update their profile. Many guardians at once. See all suppressed guardians on the card opens Settings > Communication > Suppression List. Select guardians and choose Unsubscribe selected or Resubscribe selected, or use Add guardian to turn one guardian’s email off. Families can do it themselves. In the family portal, Settings > Email Preferences has one switch per club, and every campaign email carries an unsubscribe link whose page offers Actually, keep me subscribed. Your switch and theirs change the same setting, so whoever acts last wins. See How do I stop or restart emails from my club?
