Must know
  • Cart Preview reuses the same apply-and-compute math as checkout, but in Live discounts mode it evaluates all your discounts — codes and automatic rules — regardless of status or date window, drafts, scheduled, and expired ones included. A code that shows as applied here isn’t guaranteed to be usable by a real customer yet.
  • Test against a built-in demo catalog or switch to your live discounts to try your real codes.
  • The preview is a sandbox — nothing you do here charges anyone or uses up a code’s capacity.
Cart Preview lets you drop codes onto a sample cart and watch how they apply before you publish a promotion.
1

Open Cart Preview

Go to Settings > Financial Setup > Discounts and switch to the Cart Preview view.
2

Pick a mode

Choose Demo catalog to test against a ready-made sample cart with example codes, or Live discounts to load your discounts — codes and automatic rules, in any status, including drafts, scheduled, deactivated, and expired ones — and try them against the demo cart. Live mode loads all of your discounts, matching what the real checkout evaluates.
3

Enter a code

In the order summary, type a code in the Enter code box and click Apply. Add as many as you like.

Read the result

Each code shows as applied, rejected, or no-match. Discounted lines show a crossed-out original price, the running Discount total updates, and recurring codes show a next-billing banner — the same signals a customer sees.
Because it reuses the same discount calculations as checkout, Cart Preview is the fastest way to sanity-check scope, limits, minimums, and caps before a code goes live. Just remember it doesn’t enforce status or dates, so confirm a code is active and in its window before counting on it for real customers. If a code doesn’t behave the way you expected here, adjust its settings while it’s still a draft or scheduled.
