Must know
  • Turned on per club by Uplifter. When Ask Hero is off, there is no Ask Hero bubble and no Ask Hero card on your Home page. It is for staff only.
  • Three ways in. The floating Ask Hero bubble, Cmd+J (Mac) or Ctrl+J, or the Ask Hero card on Dashboard > Home. There is no Hero link in the sidebar.
  • Three views. Side panel on wide screens, bottom panel on narrower screens and tablets. Expand moves the same chat to full page on Home.
  • Nothing changes until someone confirms. For imports, only Uplifter can confirm.
Ask Hero is the assistant built into your admin dashboard. It answers questions about your club’s data and prepares changes for you to confirm. The bubble. A round button starts in the bottom-right corner. Hover over it to see Ask Hero and the shortcut (⌘J on a Mac, Ctrl+J elsewhere). Drag it anywhere and it stays where you drop it. Your browser remembers the nearest corner and starts the bubble there the next time a page loads (saved per browser, not on your account). It fades out while the panel is open. The shortcut. Cmd/Ctrl + J opens and closes Hero from anywhere in the dashboard, except while you are typing in a field. Esc also closes it, even while you type. The Home card. With Ask Hero on, Dashboard > Home leads with an Ask Hero card:
  • A message box (“Ask Hero anything about your gym…”).
  • Try asking ideas built from your club’s own data, such as lapsing memberships, overdue membership payments and missing waivers. Clicking one only fills the message box. Shuffle appears when there are more than three ideas.
  • Up to three Recent chats: buttons (“Untitled chat” if a chat has no title). Clicking one reopens it full page.
Sending a message from the card also opens full page.

The three views

Going full page. The side panel and the bottom panel both have an Expand button that moves your live chat to Home. Full page has a New chat button and a Close Hero (minimize) button. While it is open, the bubble is hidden, and Cmd/Ctrl + J or Esc closes full page instead of opening the panel. If you opened it from the Home card or Expand, your browser’s Back button closes it too. Once the chat is saved, its page address reopens that chat, so you can bookmark it. When you come back. After a reload or in a new tab, Hero restores your last chat (saved per club and per staff member, in this browser). New chat clears it, so the next reload starts with Hero’s greeting. To rename or delete chats, see How do I start a new chat or return to a past one?. When Hero pauses. At your club’s monthly Hero limit, Hero ends the turn with “You’ve reached this organization’s monthly Hero limit - an admin can raise it in settings.” See How do I set a spend limit or allow Hero to bill overage?. Imports. Hero can prepare an uploaded file for import, but only Uplifter can confirm it. If you try, you see “You don’t have permission to do that.” and nothing is imported.
