Must know
  • Ask Hero is enabled per organization by Uplifter, not tied to your plan — specifically because it carries metered AI billing, so it’s never switched on without your consent.
  • Admins can’t self-toggle the feature from settings. You control spend limits and overage, but enabling or disabling Hero itself goes through Uplifter.
  • When Ask Hero is off, the launcher bubble disappears and Hero won’t respond to requests.
  • File analysis (the code sandbox) is part of Ask Hero and can additionally be paused globally by Uplifter.
Unlike most features, Ask Hero isn’t something you switch on yourself from settings. Because it carries usage-based AI billing, it’s turned on for your organization by Uplifter — so it’s never enabled without your agreement.

Who controls what

  • Turning Ask Hero on or off — handled by Uplifter, at the organization level. If you’d like it enabled (or disabled), reach out and it’s arranged for you.
  • Controlling spend — this part is yours. Admins set the monthly spend limit, decide whether to allow billed overage, and choose the alert threshold. See the spend-limit article for how.

What changes when it’s off

If Ask Hero isn’t enabled for your organization, the floating Sparkles launcher doesn’t appear anywhere in the dashboard, and Hero won’t respond to requests. Turning the feature off doesn’t delete anything — your past chats are kept and become available again if it’s re-enabled.

About file analysis

The ability to run code over uploaded files (the secure sandbox) is part of Ask Hero. On top of the per-organization setting, Uplifter can pause that file-analysis capability globally if needed; the rest of Hero keeps working when that happens.
