Must know
  • Gift Cards are available on plans that include Gift Cards — if you don’t see them in your dashboard, ask your Uplifter contact.
  • Resend and Fix recipient appear only while a card is still Pending (not yet claimed).
  • Both resending and fixing the recipient issue a new claim link, so the previously emailed link stops working.
  • There’s no way to delete an issued card or edit its balance from the dashboard. Lock is the tool for taking a card out of circulation. These actions need the Financials edit permission.
Open the card from Financials > Gift Cards or from a guardian’s Gift Cards tab. The buttons sit at the top of the detail panel, under the card face.

Lock and Unlock

Lock asks you to confirm: “A locked card can’t be redeemed at checkout until you unlock it. Its balance is preserved.” You can add an optional Reason (for example, suspected fraud or a disputed purchase), which then shows on the detail panel under Locked. Unlock restores the card — “The card becomes usable again at checkout.” A card that was never claimed goes back to Pending rather than Active. Both actions are recorded in the card’s Activity list.

Resend the claim email

Resend re-mails the claim link and confirms with “Claim link re-sent to [email]”. It issues a fresh link, so any older email for that card stops working. A resend leaves no Activity entry — nothing about the balance or recipient changed. Because the button only shows while a card is Pending, there’s nothing to resend once a card has been claimed. If a send fails, the toast reads “Couldn’t resend the claim link” — try again.

Fix a mistyped recipient

Fix recipient opens Change the recipient: “Send this gift card to a different email. The original email link will stop working.” Enter the corrected email (name optional) and click Update recipient. If the new email already has an account, the card attaches immediately and flips to Active instead of Pending. This posts a Recipient updated entry in the card’s history. A claimed card can’t be reassigned — “This gift card has already been claimed and can no longer be reassigned.” From there, the holder can transfer it themselves if the card is transferable.
