Must know
  • See your usage at Settings → Billing & Usage → Hero Usage: used this month, included allowance, remaining, projected month-end, and token counts.
  • Your plan includes a monthly allowance (about $25 by default, set by Uplifter). By default Hero pauses when it’s used up and you’re never billed extra.
  • Usage resets each calendar month. Charges are the underlying AI cost plus a markup (10% by default); analyzing an uploaded file adds a small flat per-run charge.
  • A low-balance banner appears in the chat once you pass 90% of the pause point, and Hero shows a “paused” message when the limit is reached.
  • Your admins are emailed once per month when usage crosses the alert threshold (80% of the allowance by default), and again if Hero pauses at the limit.
Ask Hero is metered — you pay for what you use, with a monthly allowance included.

Where to look

Go to Settings → Billing & Usage → Hero Usage. The Usage this month card shows:
  • Used this month — your spend so far this period
  • Included allowance — what your plan covers each month
  • Remaining — what’s left before Hero pauses (or Spend limit and overage rows if overage is on)
  • Projected month-end — an estimate based on your pace so far
  • Tokens — the underlying token counts, for reference

How charges are calculated

Each interaction costs the underlying AI provider’s cost plus a markup — 10% by default, though Uplifter sets both the markup and your included allowance. When Hero analyzes an uploaded file, each analysis run adds a small flat charge on top. Everything resets at the start of each calendar month.

When you’re running low

Once you pass 90% of the point where Hero pauses, a low-balance banner appears above the chat box. If you reach the limit, Hero shows a “paused” message and stops responding until the next monthly reset — or until an admin raises the limit. By default Hero never bills you beyond the included allowance.

Alerts to admins

Your organization’s admins get an email once per month when usage crosses the alert threshold (80% of the allowance by default), and a separate email if Hero pauses at the limit.
