Must know
  • An overdue membership shows a red alert linking to your billing page to update your payment method.
  • The charge retries up to 3 times (at least about 20 hours apart); if it keeps failing, the membership lapses.
  • Fix your card while the membership is still Overdue — once it lapses it won’t restart on its own.
When a renewal charge doesn’t go through — an expired card, insufficient funds, or a bank decline — the membership doesn’t disappear. Uplifter flags it and keeps trying. You’ll see an alert. A red banner appears in your family portal saying the membership’s payment is overdue, and on the Memberships page the payment status reads Overdue. Both point you to your billing page. Fix your payment method. Open your billing page from the alert, add a working card, and remove the one that’s declining. The retry keeps using the card originally tied to the membership until that card is gone, so deleting it is what routes the next attempt to your new card. This is the single most useful step — most failures are just a card issue. Uplifter retries automatically. After a failure, the charge is retried up to three times, spaced at least about 20 hours apart, giving your updated card time to work. You don’t need to trigger the retries yourself. If it keeps failing, the membership lapses. Once the retries are exhausted, the membership’s status changes to Lapsed and its coverage pauses. A lapsed membership won’t restart on its own. The automatic retries stop once a membership has lapsed, so fixing your card afterward doesn’t bring it back. That’s why it’s best to sort out your card while the membership is still Overdue — that’s the window where an updated card can rescue it. If it has already lapsed, contact your gym to restore coverage or buy the membership again. If you’re unsure whether your card went through, check the payment status on the Memberships page.
