  • In the family portal you reply in threads your club or a coach starts. If your club texts you, texting that number back from the phone on your account also reaches your club thread.
  • Replies you send in the portal stay in the portal and never go out as a text. Attachments aren’t supported.
  • Your club can switch off chat email notifications. Messages it holds back this way don’t add to your unread count, so open your threads in Chat to check.
Where to find it. Open Chat in the sidebar (on a phone, the Chat tab at the bottom). A club thread shows the club’s name and logo. A coach thread shows the coach’s name and photo. Each row shows the last message, when it was sent, and an icon for how the club reaches you: a globe (portal only), a phone (text) or an envelope (email). No threads yet? You’ll see No conversations yet until your club or a coach messages you.

Pick a thread

To find a thread, type the club’s name or a coach’s name in Search organizations…. On a wide screen the list sits on the left. On a phone the list fills the screen: tap a thread to open it, then tap the back arrow at the top left of the thread to return.

Read the thread

Messages run from oldest at the top to newest at the bottom, and the thread opens at the newest one. If you have scrolled up when a new message arrives, tap New messages to jump down. Each message shows how it was sent and its time. A reply you sent by email shows as a card with its subject: tap Show more to read it all.

Reply

Type in the Type a message… box. Press Enter to send, or Shift+Enter for a new line. The send button stays disabled until you type. A very long reply is refused with Message too long.
If a message fails. It stays in the thread with a red warning icon and a Retry button, and an error message pops up. Unread counts. The Chat item in the sidebar and the phone tab bar shows your total unread count, and it updates on its own. Opening a thread clears its count. An open thread picks up new messages on its own while the tab is visible. Texting your club. You can’t start a thread in the portal. If your club texts you, texting that number back from the phone on your account reaches your club thread. After that the thread switches to text: your club’s later messages come to you by text, and replies to older chat emails no longer land in it. Texting never reaches a coach thread. Replying by email. If your club emails you chat messages, replying to that email from the same address posts into the thread. Closed threads. A thread your club closed or archived still shows in your list. Your reply reopens it. Chat emails can be off. If your club emails you chat messages and switches off its chat email notification, new messages from your club or its coaches are not emailed to you and don’t add to your unread count. They still show when you open the thread. Your own email preferences don’t control chat email.
