Must know
  • Photos, files, and attachments aren’t supported anywhere in chat — messages are text only, on every channel.
  • SMS messages have a stricter length limit than web or email, and an over-long text is rejected rather than trimmed.
Coach chat is a text messaging tool. There’s no way to attach a photo, a document, or any other file to a chat message, and this applies to all three channels — Web Only, Web & SMS, and Web & Email alike. If you need to share a photo or a form with a family, send it another way (for example, email it from outside chat) and use the conversation to point them to it. On length, it depends on the channel:
  • Web Only and Web & Email comfortably handle long messages — write as much as you need.
  • Web & SMS has a tighter cap, because a text message can only carry so much. If a message you’re sending over SMS is too long, the send is rejected and you’ll see an error rather than a truncated text going out. Shorten it, or split it into two, and try again — or switch the conversation to Web & Email when you have a lot to say.
Everything you type is preserved in the thread exactly as sent, so the conversation stays a clean, complete record. Related: What do the Web Only, Web & SMS, and Web & Email channels mean?, How can I tell if my message was delivered?, How do I switch a chat to a different channel?
