Must know
- During a preview, member emails and texts are paused and your admin dashboard shows a Preview import mode banner.
- Money waits for the final import, billing doesn’t. Balances, invoice history, gift cards, saved cards and surcharges only come over with Import and go live, but monthly registrations can already come due during a preview.
- Your site can’t be published during a preview. A publish attempt is refused with “Finish your final import before publishing.”
- The pause lifts when your final import finishes. A preview, or a run that stops partway, leaves it on until Uplifter’s team lifts it.
What a preview sets up. Seasons, programs, families and guardians, athletes, enrollments, memberships and passes, draft discounts, waivers and signed acceptances, custom questions, class sessions with attendance, evaluations and badges, levels, teams, staff notes, uploaded files, event tickets, closure days, GL codes and tax settings.
What the pause looks like. It starts before the preview runs. A Preview import mode banner tops every admin dashboard page: “Member emails and texts are paused while you finish setting up (preview import). Run your final import to enable them.” Emails and texts to members aren’t sent: a text is refused with “Member texts are paused while this organization finishes its import.” and email campaigns count zero recipients. Invitations you send from the dashboard, and sign-in and password emails, still go out. Incident emails and Uplifter’s own notices to your club still go.
Watch your billing day. Your monthly registrations become recurring charges at the first preview, and they can come due at any point until the final import: on your Monthly billing day, or on each registration’s own start date if no day is set. With no saved card yet, each one leaves an unpaid invoice. Plan the time between your first preview and your final import with Uplifter’s team so no charge falls inside it.
Why Go Live is greyed out. On Settings > Website > General, Go Live stays greyed out, and its tooltip and banner talk about payments even when those are done. The Preview import mode banner is the real sign. If you try to publish through Ask Hero, or click Go live on the Go-live checklist in your setup steps, you see the actual reason: “Finish your final import before publishing.”
When the pause lifts. A finished final import ends it on its own. Another preview, or a run that fails or is stopped, does not. If a run stops partway, contact Uplifter support: Uplifter’s team can lift the pause for you.
What to check during the preview. Finish setup first, or signing in keeps opening the setup steps: select Continue on Brand your site (your imported logo and colors are filled in) and Set up your homepage (if Your gym’s details appears in between, fill it in or select I’ll add this later), then Go to my dashboard on the go-live checklist. Payments and publishing can wait. Then look through programs and rosters, families, memberships and discounts in your own dashboard. Discounts arrive as drafts, so none applies until you activate it.
Which edits survive a later run. Most do: a run adds what’s new instead of rewriting what you have, so age limits, your logo and colors, and your GL codes stay. The exceptions:
- Program dates, schedules and prices, and store item prices and stock can be refreshed from Uplifter 1.0.
- Tax settings are re-applied from Uplifter 1.0 on every run, over your changes.
- An imported family keeps following its Uplifter 1.0 members until someone edits it in the new Uplifter.
