# How do we get ready to move from Uplifter 1.0?

> What your club prepares and decides before Uplifter runs your preview and final import from Uplifter 1.0.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * **Your new club has to exist before anything is imported.** If Uplifter set it up for you, accept the administrator invitation within 7 days.
  * **Uplifter goes through a report of your Uplifter 1.0 data with you first.** Anything that can't come over exactly waits for your decision.
  * **Your club name and web address stay as they are unless you choose the Uplifter 1.0 ones.** Choosing the Uplifter 1.0 web address moves your site the moment the import starts.
  * **Check your club's time zone before the import.** Class times, closures and attendance history depend on it.
</Note>

**Who does what.** Uplifter's team runs the move. You prepare, decide, and agree the timing.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Have your new club and administrator ready">
    Your club must exist in the new Uplifter first. If Uplifter created it for you, accept the administrator invitation within 7 days: see [Uplifter set up my club for me: how do I get in?](/club/get-set-up/accept-your-club-invitation)
  </Step>

  <Step title="Go through the data report with Uplifter">
    Before the preview, Uplifter goes through a report of your Uplifter 1.0 data with you. Anything the import can't carry exactly, or had to guess, waits for your decision, such as coupons the new Uplifter can't represent, payment plans whose installment schedule can't carry over, and medical questions that collect a file.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Tidy your records in Uplifter 1.0">
    Only staff with an email address get a login. Coaches without one stay listed by name on their programs. Add missing emails before the backup, or add them afterwards and invite the person. Children with the same first and last name and the same birthday become one athlete, even when they are in different families, so check for genuine duplicates before the backup. If two different children are combined, add the second one by hand after the import.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Agree when to stop making changes in Uplifter 1.0">
    Each import reads the most recent backup of your Uplifter 1.0 data, so anything changed after that backup isn't included until the import runs again. Agree with Uplifter when you'll stop making changes before the final import.
  </Step>
</Steps>

**Your decisions.** Club name and web address only come up when they differ from Uplifter 1.0.

| Decision | What happens by default | Where to change it later |
| - | - | - |
| Club name | Kept unless you choose the Uplifter 1.0 name. | **Display Name** in **Settings > Organization > Overview** |
| Web address | Kept unless you choose the Uplifter 1.0 address. That moves your public site as soon as the import starts, and the previous address stops working. | **Uplifter Subdomain** in **Settings > Website > General** |
| Monthly billing day | No day yet: pick one of the days Uplifter 1.0 used (the most-used one is suggested), or leave it unset so each registration bills on its own start date. If you already have one, the import keeps it. | **Monthly billing day** in **Settings > Financials > Payment Schedule** |
| Time zone | Class times, closures and attendance history use Uplifter 1.0's time zone or your club's. With neither, attendance history and closures are skipped until one is set and the import runs again. Reminders and today's schedule also read class times in your club's time zone. | **Time zone** in **Settings > Organization > Overview** |

**One billing day for the whole club.** Uplifter 1.0 kept a bill day on each auto-renewing program. The new Uplifter bills every recurring registration on one day of the month.

**Families are matched by email.** Carried balances, gift certificates and family memberships attach to the family whose email matches. Anything unmatched isn't carried over. Make sure each family account in Uplifter 1.0 has an email address before the backup.
