# Why is my monthly program charge a different amount each month?

> Some programs are priced per session, so each monthly charge follows how many classes are scheduled in that period.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * **Per-session programs charge for the sessions scheduled in each period**, so the amount changes with the calendar.
  * **A period with no sessions, such as a holiday break, costs nothing.** No charge or invoice is created for it.
  * **Each charge shows the dates it covers.** On **Invoices**, look for "Covers \[start date] - \[end date]".
</Note>

**How per-session pricing works.** Some programs charge a rate per class instead of a flat monthly fee. Each period, Uplifter multiplies that rate by the sessions scheduled in it. At $20.00 per session, a four-class month is $80.00 and a five-class month is \$100.00. A class the club cancels before the charge runs isn't counted.

**On the program page.** A per-session program leads with its rate, for example "$20.00 per session", captioned **Tuition**. Underneath, a line gives the range, for example "Billed monthly, about $80.00 to \$100.00 depending on the classes scheduled". The range leaves out periods with no classes and any short first period, so your first payment can be lower.

**At checkout.** Where the **Order Summary** breaks a charge into lines, each line names its sessions rather than a month: "4 sessions", or "3 sessions remaining" if you join partway through a period. You pay only for the sessions still ahead of you.

**If your club has one billing day.** At a club that charges every family on the same day each month, checkout pays a short first period up to the next billing day. Each automatic charge on the billing day then pays for the period starting that day, priced by that period's classes. For charge dates, see [When will my automatic payments be charged?](/families/families-payments-billing/when-will-automatic-payments-be-charged)

**Checking a charge.** Charges on **Invoices** show the period they pay for, for example "Covers Oct 1, 2026 - Oct 31, 2026". On a phone, **Invoices** is under **More**.

**Other reasons an amount changes.**

* **Marked (estimated).** If your club has a family discount that counts your family's enrollments, an upcoming charge can read **(estimated)**: "The final amount reflects your family's enrollments on the charge date." See [How do automatic discounts like family or sale pricing work at checkout?](/families/families-payments-billing/how-do-automatic-discounts-work-at-checkout)
* **Hourly tuition.** At clubs that price classes by the hour, the amount follows your athlete's total weekly class time, so it changes when that time moves into a new tier. See [How is my monthly tuition calculated, and what is the Upcoming Payments section?](/families/families-payments-billing/upcoming-payments-hourly-tuition)
