# What is a pass and who does it cover?

> A pass is a guardian-held entitlement that lowers program prices for your whole family.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * A pass is held by **you, the guardian** — one purchase covers every athlete you directly guard (plus yourself if you're an adult athlete).
  * A pass is a discount tool (and sometimes a registration requirement), not a standalone punch card.
  * There are two types: **Unlimited** and **Credits**. Passes only appear if your gym offers them.
</Note>

A pass is something you buy once that lowers what your family pays for covered programs. Unlike a membership — which belongs to one athlete — a pass belongs to you as the guardian and automatically covers **every athlete you directly guard**. Buy it once and it applies across all your children.

A pass is mainly a **pricing tool**: when you register a covered athlete for a program, the pass price applies instead of the regular price. A program may also **require** a pass before anyone can register, in which case the pass unlocks sign-up.

There are two types, shown on each pass card:

* **Unlimited** — the pass price applies to every covered registration for as long as the pass is valid.
* **Credits** — the pass includes a fixed number of uses. One credit is spent per covered registration; once they run out, you simply pay the next-best price.
