# When does my pass renew or expire?

> How auto-renewing passes bill and reset, and how a non-renewing pass keeps working or runs out.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * An **auto-renewing** pass bills each cycle and resets its credits.
  * A **one-time** pass is never billed again — a Credits one lasts until its credits run out, and an Unlimited one keeps working with no set expiry date.
  * Credits never roll over from one cycle to the next.
</Note>

How long a pass keeps working depends on whether it auto-renews.

**Auto-renewing passes.** A monthly or yearly pass keeps going on its own. At the start of each new cycle it bills the card on file for the pass price and its window rolls forward. If it's a **Credits** pass, its credits reset to the full number at renewal — a fresh allocation for the new cycle. This is why credits are use-it-or-lose-it: any left over at the end of a cycle don't carry into the next one.

**Non-renewing passes.** A one-time pass is never charged again, and it isn't tied to a calendar expiry date. A Credits one-time pass keeps discounting registrations until its credits are used up; an Unlimited one-time pass has no end date and keeps applying with no expiry. To add more sessions, buy a new pass from the **Passes** page on your gym's website.

**Checking your pass window.** Open an athlete in your portal and look at the **Passes** section. Auto-renewing passes show an **Expires** date; one-time passes have no end date, so none appears. A Credits pass shows how many uses remain. If a pass is close to expiring or its credits are low, that's your cue to renew or buy again.

Whether a given pass auto-renews is set by your gym when the pass is created, so if you're not sure, the **Expires** date on the pass card is the best guide — a date means it auto-renews, and no date means it's one-time.
