# How do I update my contact info and text alerts?

> Edit your name, photo, and phone in Account Settings, and verify your phone to receive text alerts.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * Your **email can't be changed** here — it's your login. Everything else (name, photo, phone) is editable.
  * You must **verify your phone with a code** before text alerts can be turned on.
  * Receiving text alerts also requires ticking the **separate SMS-consent checkbox** — verifying your phone alone doesn't opt you in.
</Note>

Your profile lives in **Account Settings** (choose **Settings** in the parent portal).

<Steps>
  <Step title="Update your name or photo">
    In the **Profile** card, edit your **Name** or click your avatar to upload a new picture, then choose **Save Changes**. Your email is shown but locked, since it's used to sign in.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add and verify your phone">
    In the **Phone Number** card, enter your number and choose **Send Verification Code**. We text a 6-character code to that number — type it in to confirm. Once done, the number shows as **Verified**. You can **Remove** it at any time.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Turn on text alerts">
    After your phone is verified, an **SMS Notifications** section appears. Tick the SMS-consent checkbox and choose **Save Changes** to start receiving texts. (You can also tick the consent box while you send the verification code, and it's applied once the phone is verified.)
  </Step>
</Steps>

Text alerts are always optional. Leaving the SMS-consent box unticked simply means you won't get text messages — it doesn't affect anything else on your account, and you can turn it off again later from the same screen.
