# How do I invite a co-guardian for my athlete?

> Email an invitation for another parent or caregiver to join your athlete as a co-guardian.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * Only the **primary guardian** can invite a co-guardian.
  * The invitation **expires after 7 days** and can be used **only once**. If it lapses, there's no resend button — **remove the still-pending guardian first**, then invite the email again.
  * If the person is brand new to Uplifter, they'll **set a password and enter a phone number** when they accept the invitation; if they **already have an account**, they're added as a co-guardian immediately — the email is just a heads-up, not something they need to click through.
</Note>

Inviting a co-guardian lets a second parent or caregiver help look after the same athlete — viewing their schedule and, if you allow it, their registrations. Each guardian's own invoices and payments stay private to them.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the athlete's Guardians section">
    In the parent portal, open the athlete, then find the **Guardians** section and choose **Invite a guardian**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter their details">
    Type the person's **email address** and pick a **Relationship** (or choose **Other (custom)** to enter your own). Choose **Send invitation**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="They join">
    If they're **new to Uplifter**, they receive an email invitation and become a co-guardian once they open it within 7 days, set a password, and enter a phone number. If they **already have an account**, they're added as a co-guardian right away and the email simply lets them know.
  </Step>
</Steps>

If an invitation expires before it's accepted, the pending guardian stays listed — there's no resend option. To try the same email again, open that pending entry's menu, choose **Remove**, then invite the address a second time. Once the co-guardian has joined, you can control exactly what they see, promote them to primary, or remove them from the Guardians section.
