# How do I add and verify my phone number?

> Add a phone number in Account Settings and verify it with a texted code so it can receive club texts.

  **Must know**

  * Verify your number with the code we text you — in Account Settings, the SMS opt-in only becomes available once your number shows **Verified**. The code expires, but you can resend it.
  * **Removing your phone number** from Account Settings stops all texts to that number.

Adding a verified phone number lets your clubs reach you by text. It's done in the **Phone Number** section of **Account Settings**.

    Open **Account Settings** and find the **Phone Number** section. Type your mobile number, then choose **Send Verification Code**. An optional SMS-consent checkbox sits just below the phone field — tick it here if you want texts to start automatically once you verify.

  <Step title="Enter the texted code">
    We text a 6-character code to that number — it can include letters as well as numbers (for example, A7K92B). Enter it in the boxes shown. If it doesn't arrive, choose **Resend**, or **Use a different number** to start over.

    Once the code checks out, the number shows a green **Verified** label. If you ticked the consent checkbox, texts start now; otherwise the SMS opt-in section is now available.

To take a number off your account, choose **Remove** in the Phone Number section — that immediately stops any texts to it.

Verifying your number doesn't switch texts on by itself — unless you ticked the SMS-consent checkbox below the phone field, in which case texts turn on the moment your code is confirmed. Otherwise you choose whether to receive them separately — see the SMS notifications article for the opt-in.
