# How do I see how much file storage my club uses, and what's using it?

> See your club's total file storage, which files and programs use the most space, and how to delete files you no longer need.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * **One total, four kinds of file.** **Settings > Billing & Usage > Storage Usage** totals your media, registration files, organization assets and question answers.
  * **Deletes are permanent, and a file still in use is refused.** You can delete files from the **Largest Files** list.
  * **Your usage limits your plan choices.** You can't move to a plan whose storage limit is below what your club uses now.
</Note>

**Where to find it.** Go to **Settings > Billing & Usage > Storage Usage**. The page is headed **File Storage** and reads "\[size] used of \[limit] across \[n] files" (without "of \[limit]" when your plan has no storage limit). If your plan has a limit, the **Billing & Plans** page also shows a **Storage usage** card with the same total and an **Over limit** badge once you pass it.

**What counts.** Photos and videos (media), files uploaded during registration, organization assets such as logos and imported files, and files given as answers to custom questions. If your plan has a limit, an upload that would pass it is refused.

**Reading the page.**

| Section | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Total Storage** | Space used, with a progress bar and "\[n]% of \[limit] used", or "No storage limit" |
| **Total Files** | Every file across all uploads |
| **Media Files**, **Registration Files**, **Organization Assets**, **Question Answers** | Count and size for each kind. Together they make up the total. |
| **Storage by File Type** | Space used by **Images**, **Videos**, **Audio**, **Documents** and **Other** |
| **Top Storage Contributors** | The programs, competitions and events whose registration files use the most space |
| **Largest Files** | Your largest files, with **File Name**, **Type**, **Size**, **Source**, **Uploaded By** and **Date** |

**Clubs with many files.** **Storage by File Type** uses only your largest files of each kind, so it can add up to less than the total.

**Free up space.**

<Steps>
  <Step title="Delete the file">
    In **Largest Files**, select the trash icon on the file's row. The **Delete file** box warns "This action cannot be undone." Select **Delete**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="If the delete is refused">
    A photo, video or organization asset that is still in use shows "\[file] is still in use. Remove it from the places using it first." Remove it from those places, then delete it again.
  </Step>
</Steps>

**Who can delete what.** Deleting a registration file needs the **Edit Athletes** permission, and deleting an organization asset needs **Edit Settings**. Imported files and question answers have no trash icon. To see what uses each logo or image, go to **Settings > Organization > Organization Assets**.

**Moving to a smaller plan.** If a plan's storage limit is below what you use, the **Change Subscription Plan** dialog shows **Cannot switch to this plan** ("This plan allows \[x] GB storage, but you're using \[y] GB") and you can't confirm the change. Delete files first, then try again.
