# How do I change the requirements on an existing program?

> Edit the eligibility rules and paperwork on a saved program, and see what happens to athletes already enrolled.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * **Where.** Open the program's row menu > **Configure** > **Requirements** tab, make your changes and click **Save Changes**, or use **Edit step-by-step**.
  * **Enrolled athletes stay.** Changes apply to new registrations. The **Athletes** tab flags anyone missing a required membership, achievement or waiver.
  * **Bulk edit replaces.** Bulk edit can set a requirement on many programs, but it replaces each program's selections.
  * **Not on application programs.** **Application Required** programs have no **Requirements** tab.
</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Requirements tab">
    On **Registrations > Programs**, open the row menu, click **Configure** and choose the **Requirements** tab. Or choose **Edit step-by-step**: its **Requirements** step holds the same cards plus **Purchase conditions**, and **Save Program** is on the last step. On a draft program, **Configure** opens the step-by-step editor instead, and there is no **Edit step-by-step** menu item.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Change the cards">
    Each rule is a card with a switch: **Level Restriction**, **Achievement Requirement**, **Capacity Limit**, **Age Restriction**, **Gender Restriction**, **Membership Requirement**, **Pass Requirement**, **Waiver Requirement**, **Medical Information Requirement**, **File Upload Requirement** and **Custom Questions**. Some show only when their feature is on for your club.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Save Changes**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

**Purchase conditions.** Rules about something already bought or joined aren't on the **Configure** panel: edit them on the program page's **Overview** tab and click **Save purchase conditions**, or in the **Requirements** step of **Edit step-by-step**. Memberships have their own, on the membership's page.

**Any one or all.** On the Level, Achievement, Membership and Pass cards, picking two or more items shows **All selections must be satisfied for this requirement to be met.** Unticked, any one qualifies. Ticked, athletes need every one. Waivers have no checkbox: every selected waiver is required.

**Switching a card off.** Level, Achievement, Membership, Pass and Waiver cards keep their picks ("Kept for when this is switched back on"). **Gender Restriction** and **Custom Questions** clear theirs.

**Athletes already enrolled.** Nobody is removed. The program's **Athletes** tab flags who falls short of the current membership, achievement, waiver, medical and file rules, for example **Missing** under **Membership** or **Not Signed** under **Waivers**.

**Archiving a required waiver or pass.** If a switched-on rule still requires it, you choose what happens (nothing is pre-selected):

| Choice | What happens |
| - | - |
| **Stop requiring this waiver** (or **pass**) | Removed from every rule; an emptied rule switches off. |
| **Keep it listed, switch the gate off** | Stays selected but blocks nobody. |
| **Leave the rules exactly as they are** (waiver) | An archived waiver is never offered, so a rule asking only for it enforces nothing. |
| **Keep requiring this pass** (pass) | Current holders can still register; new families can't buy it. |

**Many programs at once.** Click **Select**, tick programs, click **Bulk Edit** and pick a field under **Requirements**: every card above has one, plus **Purchase condition**. Your picks replace each program's current picks.
