# What syncs to QuickBooks or Xero, and when?

> Which records flow to your accounting software, why it's one-way, and when new data appears.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * Today you can connect **QuickBooks Online**; **Xero** shows as **Coming soon** on the Integrations page, so Xero syncing isn't available yet.
  * Syncing is **on-demand** — click **Sync Now** to queue a full sync; the queued records finish pushing in the background within about 15 minutes, not the instant you click. New transactions don't push on their own until you sync again.
  * The flow is **outbound** — Uplifter pushes records out and never pulls your financial records back from QuickBooks or Xero.
  * You must have an active connection with saved mappings for anything to sync.
</Note>

Once your accounting software is connected and mapped, Uplifter can push your financial records into it. Here's exactly what flows across and how it's timed.

**What gets sent**

* **Customers / contacts** — the guardians who owe or pay you.
* **Invoices and their line items** — coded to the accounts you mapped.
* **Payments received**.
* **Refunds** — pushed so returned money reduces the right revenue, carrying each transaction's location where you've set it.
* **Journal entries** from your ledger.
* **Payout deposits** to your bank account.

**When it happens**

Sync runs when you ask it to. Clicking **Sync Now** on the Integrations page queues a **full sync** of your customers, invoices, payments, refunds, journal entries, and payouts; the queued records are pushed in the background and finish within about 15 minutes rather than the moment you click. New transactions created after a sync **do not** push automatically — they're picked up the next time you run a sync. Each attempt is recorded so you can see what succeeded and what failed under **Show Logs**.

**One direction only**

Uplifter only ever *sends* your financial records out. At setup it reads your chart of accounts and company name so you can map accounts, but it never pulls your customers, invoices, or payments back in, and it never changes records it has already created — so edits you make in QuickBooks or Xero won't flow back into Uplifter.
