# How do I hide a membership from my club website?

> Switch off Available for purchase online so families can no longer buy a membership on your club website, and see what keeps working.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * **Switch off Available for purchase online** in the membership's **Details** card (**⋯** menu > **Edit**) to hide it from your club website.
  * **Hiding stops new online purchases only:** current members keep renewing, and staff can still add athletes with **Add member**.
  * **Families who need it for a program are told to contact your club,** so you add those athletes yourself.
  * **If no membership is left for sale online,** the Memberships page drops off your website.
</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Edit form">
    Go to **Athletes > Memberships**, click the **⋯** menu on the membership's row or card, and choose **Edit**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Turn off Available for purchase online">
    In the **Details** card, switch off **Available for purchase online** (on by default). Its help text reads "When off, this membership is hidden from the marketing site and can only be assigned by an admin."
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Save Changes** (a draft shows **Save Draft** instead). Saving needs the **Edit Training** permission.
  </Step>
</Steps>

**What hiding does.** Families can no longer buy the membership online, and unlike a hidden program, no direct link still sells it. Its status, price and billing stay the same, so current members keep their coverage and renewals. Staff can still add athletes with **Add member** or put it on an invoice.

**If it's your last one online.** The Memberships page only shows while your plan includes Memberships, the page is on in **Settings > Website > Pages**, and at least one membership can be bought online. Hide the last one and the page drops off your site.

**If a program requires it.** A family without it sees "\[Membership] cannot be added online" and is asked to contact your club before registering, or "No eligible memberships" when nothing the program accepts is sold online. When you set this requirement on a program, a warning tells you this will happen.

**Waitlists.** Automatic promotion won't promote an athlete who still needs a hidden membership. [Promoting by hand](/club/waitlists/how-do-i-manually-promote-an-athlete-off-the-waitlist) warns you and offers **Promote without membership**. Grant the membership yourself afterward.

**Other ways a membership stops selling.** Leave it as a **Draft**, or use the **⋯** menu to **Unschedule** a Scheduled one or **Deactivate** an Active one. Deactivating also stops new billing cycles: current members keep access until the end of their paid period, then their memberships complete.

**Spotting hidden memberships.** The Memberships list has no Hidden badge or online filter, so check the switch on the **Edit** form.
