# How do I sell gift cards on my website and at the point of sale?

> The two customer-paid channels — your public Gift Cards page and the POS register's Gift Cards tab — and when the recipient's email goes out.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * Gift Cards are available on plans that include **Gift Cards** — if you don't see them in your dashboard, ask your Uplifter contact.
  * Cards are minted only when the order reaches **Paid**. A webhook replay can't double-mint: each purchase line mints at most one card.
  * Each gift-card cart line mints exactly **one** card — there's no quantity stepper on a gift-card line.
  * Gift-card purchase lines are **never taxed**; they're a deferred liability, not revenue, so they're excluded from every tax base.
</Note>

## On your website

Only cards that are both **Active** and **Available online** appear on your **/gift-cards** page, in the catalog's sort order. A visitor picks a tile, chooses an amount and recipient in the purchase dialog, then adds it to the cart and checks out. Buyers can reopen an in-cart gift card with **Edit** to change the amount, recipient, or message before paying.

## At the point of sale

The register shows a **Gift Cards** tab beside your product categories. With no cards set up yet, it points staff at **Store > Gift Cards**.

A walk-in sale has no signed-in buyer, so **For myself** is hidden and a **recipient email is always required** — the card is delivered as an emailed claim link. Otherwise the dialog is the same as the storefront's, including the live preview.

## What the recipient gets

The email is branded with your logo and primary color and carries a **View your gift card** button. The subject is "\[sender] sent you a gift card to \[your club]" for a gift, "You've received a gift card to \[your club]" when the buyer left the sender name blank, or "Your \[your club] gift card" for a self-purchase.

Delivery is durable. Each attempt issues a fresh claim link, so a retry can send a duplicate email — the newest link is always the working one. A background reconciler retries any send that failed, so nothing silently goes undelivered.

On **Financials > Gift Cards**, each card's Source badge reads **Store** for a website sale and **POS** for a register one. The Source filter above the list labels those same two choices **Online store** and **Point of sale**.
