# How do I create a competition?

> Walk through the competition builder — type, venue, dates, categories, results, pricing, and publishing.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * Available on plans that include **Competitions** (defaults off) — if you don't see it, ask your Uplifter contact.
  * You can only **delete** a competition while it is still a **Draft**.
  * A venue can be a saved facility or a typed address; a typed address is geocoded to a map pin.
</Note>

Start from **Registrations → Competitions**, then click **Add Competition**. The builder walks you through these steps (the **Season** step appears only if your organization has the seasons feature turned on *and* at least one season already created):

<Steps>
  <Step title="Season">
    Optionally assign the competition to a **season**. This step appears only when your organization has the seasons feature turned on and has already created at least one season — turning the feature on by itself isn't enough.
  </Step>

  <Step title="General">
    Set the name and venue, the competition **dates and times**, and the **Competition Type** (the sport it's for). With one sport configured it's auto-selected and shown read-only; with more than one you pick from the list; if none is set up yet, you're prompted to add a sport first. Choose a facility to auto-fill the address, or enter an address manually.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Categories">
    Choose which categories the competition includes — either **use all eligible categories** or **pick specific ones**. See [Set up competition categories and events](/club/events-competitions/set-up-competition-categories).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Restrictions">
    Set who can register — age, level, capacity, membership, waiver, medical, and file-upload requirements. Full detail in [Control who can register](/club/events-competitions/control-competition-registration-eligibility).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Results">
    For each category, choose whether a **seed mark** is required at registration and whether **results** are recorded for that event after the competition. The result type itself is inherited from the event/category and shown read-only. See [What are seed marks?](/club/events-competitions/review-competition-seed-marks).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pricing">
    Pick a pricing mode and assign a GL code. See [How do I price a competition?](/club/events-competitions/price-a-competition).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Registration">
    Set the registration window and any early-access code.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirmation">
    Review everything and save. Set the publish status to Live when you're ready to go public — see [Publish a competition to your website](/club/events-competitions/publish-a-competition-to-your-website).
  </Step>
