# How do I read and export attendance analytics?

> Read the Attendance Analytics tiles, tabs and rate colors, and export a tab's rows as a CSV file.

<Note>
  **Must know**

  * **This page only reports attendance.** To record or change a mark, use a program's **Sessions** tab or an athlete's **Attendance** tab.
  * **The date range starts on the current month** the first time you open the page in a browser tab. Change it with **Filters > Date range**.
  * **Attendance Rate counts Present and Late out of all records**, so Absent and Excused marks, and event registrations not yet marked, all lower it.
  * **Export** downloads a CSV of the current tab's rows. Like **Filters**, it's on **By Athlete**, **By Program** and **By Coach**, not **Overview**.
</Note>

**Where to find it.** Go to **Athletes > Attendance** to open **Attendance Analytics**: four summary tiles above these four tabs.

| Tab | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Overview** | **Attendance Trend** (daily rate for the last 14 days with records in the range) and **Status Distribution** (Present, Absent, Late and Excused counts). |
| **By Athlete** | One row per athlete with Level, Total, Present, Absent, Late and Rate. |
| **By Program** | One card per program with its rate and counts. |
| **By Coach** | One row per coach. Only attendance at events with a coach assigned counts here; program sessions don't. **Classes** is the number of records. |

<Steps>
  <Step title="Set the date range">
    On **By Athlete**, **By Program** or **By Coach**, click **Filters**. Under **Date range**, pick a **From** and a **To** date (both are needed), then click **Done**. The range applies to every tab and tile, and is kept when you return in the same browser tab. **Clear filters** removes it so every date counts.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read the summary tiles">
    **Attendance Rate** is Present plus Late out of the total, rounded to a whole percent. **Total Present** and **Total Absent** show each count and its share of the total. **Total Records** counts every record in the range.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Export the tab">
    Click **Export**. The CSV has Name, Total, Present, Absent, Late, Excused and Rate (%) columns, with every row that matches your search, not just the page you're viewing.
  </Step>
</Steps>

**How rates are colored.** Rate badges and bars on the **By Athlete**, **By Program** and **By Coach** tabs share one scale:

| Rate | Color | Reads as |
| - | - | - |
| 90% and up | Green | Good |
| 70% - 89% | Amber | Fair |
| Below 70% | Red | Poor |

**What counts as a record.** Each Present, Absent, Late or Excused mark is one record. An athlete registered for an event also counts as a record before they're marked, and lowers the rate until they are (it won't show in **Status Distribution**, since that only has slices for the four marks). An athlete on a program session's roster who hasn't been marked yet isn't counted.

**Fixing a mark.** Click an athlete's name on **By Athlete** and use their **Attendance** tab, or [take attendance from a program's Sessions tab](/club/programs-classes/take-attendance-from-the-dashboard).
